How to Perform a Full Site Restore

< 1 min read

When to Perform a Full Restore #

A full restore is recommended in severe cases:

  • After a successful, unrecoverable hack or malware attack.

  • After a major configuration change or update resulted in complete site failure.

Initiating a Full Restore via cPanel #

  1. Access the Backup Tool: Log into cPanel and navigate to the “Files” section, then select the “Backup Manager” or “JetBackup” tool.

  2. Select Date: Choose the specific date you wish to restore from. Always select a date before the security incident or error occurred.

  3. Select Full Restore: Choose the option to restore the “Full Account.”

  4. Confirmation: Confirm the restore. The process may take 15 minutes to several hours, depending on the size of your account. You will be notified via email upon completion.

Important Considerations #

  • Data Loss: Restoring will overwrite all current data with the data from the selected backup date. Any changes (new content, emails) made after the backup date will be lost.

  • Uptime: The website may experience a brief period of instability during the final stage of the restore process.
